J.J. Smolicz on Education and Culture is a selection of some of the major articles written by the author during the three decades in which he has been teaching and preparing teachers in the Faculty of Education, University of Adelaide.
The book focuses on cultural diversity in Australia, core values and cultural interaction, case studies in Australian pluralism and the interplay between tradition, education and change. These issues are considered in terms of Smoliczs contribution that individuals construct personal cultural systems from more than one cultural heritage.
Professor Smolicz has been involved in numerous international initiatives organised by the United Nations and other bodies, focussing on cultural diversity, pluralism and globalisation

J.J.Smolicz, AM is Professor of Education, University of Adelaide and Director, Centre for Intercultural Studies and Multicultural Education. He is an internationally recognized scholar in multiculturalism and cultural pluralism. An author of numerous books and articles, his recent books include Who is an Australian? and Cultural Democracy and Ethnic Pluralism: Multicultural and Multilingual Options in Education (co-edited with R. J. Watts).
